Here at Ormeau City Dental Centre, we offer bulk billing services for children that are
eligible for the Child Dental Benefits Schedule. You don’t need to apply or register for CDBS,
if you are eligible, you will receive a letter from Medicare, or you can check if your child is
eligible by accessing your Medicare account online at myGov.com.au. Your child can get
CDBS when all of the following applies:
- They’re eligible for Medicare
- They’re between 0 and 17 years old for at least one day that calendar year
- You or they get an eligible payment at least once that calendar year.
These benefits available under the Child Dental Benefits Schedule are capped at $1135 per
child over 2 consecutive calendar years. If you do not use all of your $1135 benefit in the
first year of eligibility, you can use it in the second year if you are still eligible. If you don’t
use the full amount within the 2 calendar years, you can’t use the remaining funds. You’ll
have to wait for a new 2 year cover period to start. The services covered include: Check-ups,
X-rays, cleaning, fissure sealing, fillings, root canals and extractions.
Prior to your child’s appointment, all we require is your Medicare card number. After your
child’s appointment is complete, we then process the payment through the Medicare
portal, you will be advised should there be any out-of-pocket expenses prior to treatment.
